History of Ayedaade Local Government
Local Government Home

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Ayedaade Local Government which came into existence through the Federal Military Government’s pronouncement of May 3, 1989 was an amalgam of the old Egbedore Local Government, first created in 1962 but later merged with Irewole Local Government in the Local Government Reforms of 1976 which accorded recognition to only 24 Local Governments in the then Oyo State of Nigeria. The division by Chief Bola Ige sought to bring the Local Government closer to the people to enhance rapid development of the rural area. Irewole Local Government again came under the hammer and was split into FOUR under the new arrangement which brought the total number of Local Government Administrations in the then Oyo State to 53. Ayedaade Local Government is one of the Local Government areas of Osun State, which was carved out of the old Oyo State by the Federal Government in 1991.
